He has held influential roles in organizations across Sub-Saharan Africa, including EnergyBanq, BatteryBanq, Sunrise Energy, MOGS, and Ghana Port Marine System (GPMS), with a career focused on energy optimization and infrastructure advancement.
In 2020, Stephan founded EnergyBanq, a company dedicated to providing renewable energy solutions and consulting services throughout Africa. He also serves as an advisor to The Mermaid Group on energy-related import terminal acquisitions and is a member of the Sandown Capital Investment Committee, holding equity in multiple energy enterprises.
As a co-founder of Mining Oil and Gas Services (MOGS), Stephan played a pivotal role in consolidating Southern Africa’s mining services sector through strategic mergers and acquisitions. Under his leadership, the company achieved significant milestones, including the development of Africa’s largest LPG import facility, a 10-million-barrel crude oil tank farm, and a multi-fuel import terminal in Ghana.
Stephan is equally committed to philanthropy, contributing to impactful organizations such as Ubuntu Pathways and serving on the Steering Committee for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, which has been operational since 2017.
Stephan began his career in finance, working at Investec Bank (SA) and later Citi Group. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics from Stellenbosch University and a Master of Management in Finance and Investment from WITS Business School.
